1 Dawns
2 This Day

Dawns (Avi Sato)

Remember me when first breath of day
Revives you from your dreams of light
And dark, when frost of evening,
Shattered by sun’s dawn rays,
Driving shadows from mind’s secret corners.

Forget not one footstep of many
Step from shadow and see
Faces shimmering in the light
Not of forgiveness but of
Judgment of those who inhabit shadows.

Remember me when last breath of sunset
Writes polyphonies in quiet forests,
Spirit voices breathing in falling darkness.
I cast no more shadows, watch no more time
Yet remember me; I live in your dawns.

This Day (Avi Sato)

This day I close my eyes
I ask for peace but no
I find darkness
I hear the noise
Of silence broken by shots
Hatred become flesh
Hearts filled with fire
Kindled anew in the service of deities
False and imagined
Yet they follow their images
To the altar of sacrifice
Souls lit aflame
Peace a single sheet
Once pure now ash
Floating on winds that carry
Remains of humanity’s hopes
Dreams become wisps of smoke
Trails in night skies
Inseparable from clouds
That mask the moon’s light
Living in shadows
I ask for peace
Now that darkness consumes
Sunrise awaits
I hear the call of dawn
